Frequently asked questions

What are the main rules of Etnoliga?

This league is like no other. We play football to build an open, inclusive community. Respect and commitment of every player is essential. If you like sport and accept these standards, you are welcome!

Where do you play?

Etnoliga is played in Warsaw in different districts, usually outdoors in the spring and indoors in the autumn.

How can I register a team?

The applications are submitted through the online form. Stay tuned on our website and social media for information on enrollment calls.

I am a refugee, can you support me?

We can help you pay for the transportation, organize childcare, buy shoes or a uniform. Do not hesitate to contact us!

Can professionals join?

Etnoliga is rather for amator players but as long as your team is not strictly professional it is acceptable.

Will I be insured against accidents?

You participate at your own risk. Injuries happen, of course, and you should always take it into consideration. We provide emergency medical care (affixing abrasions, wounds disinfection, protection of wounds) and call the ambulance. If you suffer damage to your health, collect medical records and bills, and contact us and ask for compensation under our insurance.

How is Etnoliga organized?

Every edition lasts approximately 3 months and there are about 20 teams. We play 7 aside with at least two women. Besides playing football each team prepares presentations, refreshments and other forms of social activities. Before every season the captains set together detailed rules of engagement. There are professional referees and paramedics.

Are there any requirements for the teams?

Each team must consist of at least 3 men and 3 women (or other genders), and players of at least 3 nationalities. The more diverse the team, the better.

How many players can be on a team?

You need to register 10 to 20 people. If you want more, consider: Will everyone have a chance to play?

What if I don’t know any women players or foreigners?

Talk to the girls you know – maybe they have always wanted to play football but did not have a chance? Look around your neighborhood, haven’t you ever met foreigners there? Post info on social media. Join our kickabouts. Invite them to play together. Ask at your work or school.

Do I have to provide my personal details?

We process all information about you in accordance with our privacy policy. During the first activity you sign a consent form. If you want to remain anonymous, you can use, for example, a nickname. If you do not want your photos to appear on our social media, do not sign the consent to publication and let us know.

When do you play?

The league is usually held in spring and autumn. Throughout the year we arrange kickabouts, training and one-off tournaments.

How much does it cost?

We believe that sport should be accessible for everyone, and therefore, our activities are free of charge.

Can I join individually?

Yes, we accept both individual and team applications. Start with the kickabouts and training where you will meet other members of our community. If you only want to join the league, use the contact form to give us information about yourself that will be useful during the draft.

What if I am a minor?

You can play in Etnoliga from the age of 16. If you are a minor, bring a consent for participation signed by your parent or legal guardian. If you are under 16, you are welcome to Etnoliga Junior program which is very similar.

What are the prizes for winning Etnoliga?

We play for fun and for unity, not for rewards. All the participants get commemorative medals, winners get simple cups. We also distinguish fair players, best scorers, goalkeepers and any other members of the community if the captains decide so.

What if I do not live in Warsaw?

We will be happy to help you organize a match or a tournament, to give a workshop in your club or school. If you have a good idea, we can fund some of your activities!
